Final Layout

Here is my final layout. I used the shapes and lines tool in microsoft word.

The New Menu

I researched healthy school food alternatives on the internet and browsed this website for some ideas for the new menu...

https://healthy-kids.com.au/category/10/recipes

Then I looked at this website (http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/studentsupport/studentwellbeing/schoolcanteen/recipes.php) and got some great ideas about packaging food to make it more interesting for students. It made me think about different ways to encourage students to make healthier choices apart from limiting their options, and teaching students about healthy eating.

Using these resources and others I compiled a list of healthy school lunches that I could include in my menu. Here is my final selection. I used a simplistic design from this website: http://cookit.e2bn.org/activity/menucreator/

3D Design

This is my attempt to represent my plan using a 3D house designer. I used this website:

Floor Mural

To make the canteen more interesting and to encourage healthy eating, a mural will be painted on the floor. It will be designed and painted by the students- it includes aspects of the food pyramid to expand the students' knowledge of healthy eating and to remind them about making the right choices whenever they buy food. The mural will incorporate what students think are healthy food choices and also include their own written affirmations around the food pyramid. o

Initial Plan

Here is my initial plan for my new canteen. Some core elements are:

- A student friendly area, in which students can choose and purchase their food that is sectioned off from the cooking area for safety.
- Ovens and fridges located well away from the preparation area.
- Space for tables on which student centred cooking lessons can be held.
- A communal eating area.
